Tarkett is a world leader in innovative flooring and wall coverings, committed to a sustainable, circular economy that reduces waste and environmental impact. Commissioned by FranklinTill as part of their broader role in developing Tarkett’s sustainability strategy and communications, we created a film and a set of key visuals to showcase their approach, where carpets are sold, installed, and later recycled into new tiles. The project centered on the raw materials used in Tarkett’s carpets, capturing their intricate details through photography before recreating them in CG using several techniques, including 3D scanning and photography. The circular motif was represented in a custom-designed arena, serving as both a viewing platform and a metaphor for Tarkett’s sustainable production process. Complementing our 3D animation is a sound design by Pentagram’s Yuri Suzuki, incorporating recordings of the actual products and raw materials. Together, they highlight the manufacturing processes, the essence of the materials, and the beauty of circularity.
